The Noel Hat

11/01/2020

When I think of the holidays, I think of time spent with family and friends, baking to no end, and whipping up quick and fun-to-stitch gifts. The Noel Hat is my take on a crocheted holiday beanie, and I absolutely love how this pattern comes to life with the Christmas color palette by Shelly Diaz of Daisy Stitch Co. Daisy Stitch Co has many gorgeous colorways, but my top recommendations for the Noel hat are Boughs of Holly, Forest, and Ruby!

About the Pattern

This beginner-friendly Noel Hat pattern is a perfect project for first-time crocheters, as it uses basic stitches and minimal shaping. And because I think everyone should be able to enjoy stitching up a hat, I include a detailed size chart ranging from 4-lb Preemie to Adult XL with tips on how to customize the fit!

What's in the pattern?

In this PDF pattern, you will find:

  •  A detailed 25-page tutorial with 42 step-by-step color photos that teach you exactly how to crochet this hat (including photos showing you where to place your hook and stitches!)
  • Instructions provided for creating the foundation chain, subsequent rows, sewing the hat closed, attaching a pom-pom, and weaving in all ends
  • A comprehensive supply list
  • Tips that are written as if I am teaching a good friend, so you will encounter minimal abbreviations or crochet jargon
  • Instructions written in US terms

What stitches should I know?

Although the instructions are very detailed, I recommend you be familiar with the following stitches that are used in this hat:

  • Foundation chain stitches
  • Chain stitches
  • Slip stitches
  • Single crochet stitches
  • Double crochet stitches

How is this crochet hat pattern different from all the others out there?!

I won't try to hide it - there are a TON of crochet hat patterns out there! I have written my Noel Hat pattern as if I am teaching a good friend, and use straightforward instructions with minimal crochet jargon so you do not have to worry about deciphering the pattern while you stitch. I also include over 40 color photos that accompany the step-by-step instructions, starting from the foundation chain to adding the pom-pom, so you can see exactly where to place your hook and stitches! Detailed instructions for creating the foundation chain, subsequent rows, sewing the hat closed, and attaching a pom-pom are included.

This hat is also stitched according to measurements, rather than stitch counts or gauge, so you can easily customize your hat for the perfect fit! A detailed size chart ranging from 4-lb Preemie to Adult XL is included, and I provide helpful tips on how to add a fold-over brim (as seen in the photos).

Am I able to sell items I make from this pattern?

Yes, you are welcome to sell anything you make from this pattern! Do not alter this pattern in any manner and distribute as your own. Please use your own photos to advertise products made for sale. I strongly (but politely!) request that you give credit to my shop for the pattern and post a link if you sell online.

Where can I purchase this pattern?

The Noel Hat pattern is available for purchase in my Etsy shop here. This hat is a companion piece to my Noel Blanket pattern, a festive holiday afghan also available here. You may purchase both the Noel Hat and Blanket as a bundle for 10% off here.
