Key Responsibilities:
  • Established short-term and long-term goals and objectives for the Education Department in consultation with the Director and other Fowler Departments.
  • Oversaw the development and implementation of inquiry-based education programs that were effective and engaging, met the needs of target audiences, promoted the Fowler's mission and vision, and met or exceeded the Fowler's financial goals.
  • Developed and implemented school and teacher programs to provide curriculum- and standards-based, learner-centered arts education to K through College school groups.
  • Directed and managed a robust annual schedule of 50+ intergenerational and youth programs, including week-long summer camps, family-oriented concerts, hands-on art making activities, yoga workshops, and in-gallery story times.
  • Managed the development, implementation, and continuous monitoring of the Education Department's budget.
  • In conjunction with the Fowler's Director of Development, identified funding needs, helped prepare proposals as well as final reports, and deepened relationships with various community stakeholders, thereby expanding the Fowler's connections and visibility on a local, regional, and national level with K-12 schools, UCLA and nearby universities, other museums, and supporters of arts education.
  • Ensured program effectiveness and content quality through monitoring, evaluation, and feedback with adherence to nationally accepted standards.
  • Produced the research, writing, and coordinated the distribution of resource materials for arts educators.
  • Served on interdepartmental projects, including grant writing, digital advancements, and marketing initiatives.
  • Proposed new program initiatives that aligned with the Fowler's strategic plan.
  • Hired, trained, and supervised Education staff, interns, and volunteers. Responsible for corrective action, as necessary.
